<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To prevent a body housing of a fixing device from being twisted. <P>SOLUTION: A heating roller 37 is supported by a first holding frame 398 which is fixedly assembled to a body housing 39 and the heating roller 37 is supported by a second holding frame 399 which is movable relative to the body housing 39. A nip pressure adjustment mechanism 362 forms a fixing nip part N in a normally compressed state by strongly bringing a pressure roller 38 into pressure contact with the heating roller 37 by bringing the second holding frame 399 closer to the first holding frame 398, while forming a fixing nip part in a pressure-reduced state in which both the rollers are weakly brought into pressure contact with each other by separating the second holding frame 399 from the first holding frame 398. A motor 360 for driving the nip pressure adjustment mechanism 362 is mounted on the body housing 39.
