<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To allow a user to close an open-close member without excessive effort and lock the open-close member regardless of the presence of an image carrier unit within an apparatus body. <P>SOLUTION: An image forming apparatus comprises: a detachable intermediate transfer unit 27 including an intermediate transfer belt 27B; an openable/closable transfer guide 50 holding a secondary transfer roller 26; a pressure mechanism 60 for applying releasable pressure on the secondary transfer roller 26; and hooks 52F and 52R connected to the pressure mechanism 60 and releasably locking the transfer guide 50. The transfer guide 50 is locked by the hooks 52F and 52R, to the intermediate transfer unit 27 when the intermediate transfer unit 27 is loaded in an apparatus body, and to the apparatus body when the intermediate transfer unit 27 is not loaded in the apparatus body. The pressure mechanism 60 releases the pressure on the secondary transfer roller 26 in conjunction with a lock-release operation for the transfer guide 50 by the hooks 52F and 52R. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
