PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a backlight driving device capable of enhancing the image quality or visibility of various kinds of input images.

SOLUTION: A backlight driving device comprises: a luminance detection unit 100 that acquires information on luminance of an input image to be displayed on a liquid crystal display 300; and a driving unit 200 that performs backlight control of the liquid crystal display 300 while reflecting a detection result of the luminance detection unit 100.
