PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide an electrophoretic particle which is attached less to a contact object.

SOLUTION: An electrophoretic particle dispersion liquid is sealed in a cell surrounded by a display substrate 20, a rear surface substrate 22, and a gap member 24. An electrophoretic particle 34 dispersed in a dispersion medium 50 of the electrophoretic particle dispersion liquid includes on the surface of an electrophoretic particle main body, an electrolytic layer in which an anionic electrolytic material and a cationic electrolytic material are stacked alternately in a radial direction of the electrophoretic particle main body as an electrolytic material as an electrolytic polymer.
