The invention relates to an optical sensor (1) comprising a cellular arrangement of transmitters (2, 2a) emitting transmission light beams (3, 3a) and a cellular arrangement of reception light beams (4, 4a) which form a light sensor arrangement, wherein a transmitter (2, 2a) and an associated receiver (5, 5a) are arranged in an adjacent manner in each case. The transmitters (2, 2a) are cyclically activated individually in succession. The positions and temporal profiles of receiving lights, which are guided by objects (6) to the receivers (5, 5a), are detected using an evaluation and control unit (8) by evaluating reception signals and are used to generate position-dependent object determination signals. |
