The invention relates to a method for purifying biogas, flue gas or liquids, and to the production and use of organic mineral bone char as an adsorbent therefor. The invention further relates to filters therefor and to the use thereof in purification processes for gas in biogas plants and waste disposal facilities and in other purification processes. The organic mineral bone char is produced by technical pyrolysis of coarsely comminuted, degreased, degelatinised bone, bone constituents and cartilage, in the form of slaughterhouse waste. These are heated in a closed container at temperatures of around 820 °C and above over a time period of 10 to 60 minutes and the liquid and gaseous fractions obtained are extracted.
