According to the present invention, disclosed are a method and apparatus for generating e-book contents. According to the present invention, an apparatus for generating e-book contents comprises: an area divider unit dividing the input of the image page into an image area and a text area if a page image of an e-book is input; an image file generation unit generating an image file from the divided image area; a text file generation unit generating a text file from the divided text area through a text recognition; and a content generation unit combining the generated image file and the generated text file to generate one set of e-book content, wherein the content generation unit may arrange text included in the text file to generate the e-book content according to the format of the image file. Therefore, according to the present invention, better use can be made of a terminal screen displaying a page image of an image book, and reading text from a user's point of view can be made easier.
