Provided are: an information acquisition device that can suppress a decrease in distance detection precision even if there is unevenness in the brightness of a dot pattern; a projection device; and an object detection device. A projecting optical system is provided with a diffractive optical element (DOE) that converts laser light emitted from a laser light source to dot pattern light by means of diffraction, and the system projects a predetermined dot pattern to a target region. The DOE is configured in a manner so that the brightness of the dots at the periphery of the target region is greater than the brightness of the dots in the central section of the target region. As a result, when performing pattern matching of segment regions in the vicinity to the outside of the target region, the brightness of the dots contained in the segment regions in the vicinity of the target region is increased, and so the precision of pattern matching can be increased. Thus, the precision of distance detection of the object detection device can be increased.
