<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a portable electronic device which operates more stably, and a method of controlling the portable electronic device. <P>SOLUTION: A portable electronic device 20 for performing non-contact communication with external equipment, comprises: a resonance unit 24 for receiving an electric wave generated from the external equipment by using any one of a first reception efficiency and a second reception efficiency, thereby generating a voltage; a rectification unit 29 for rectifying the voltage generated by the resonance unit 24; a voltage detection unit 32 for detecting a value of the voltage rectified by the rectification unit 29 and for determining whether the detected voltage value is greater than or equal to a reference voltage value; and a change unit for changing a reception efficiency of the resonance unit 24 between the first reception efficiency and the second reception efficiency on the basis of the determination result of the voltage detection unit 32. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
