<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To update a dictionary for conversion of terminal equipment with content which fits the intention of a user. <P>SOLUTION: From a portable terminal 1 having a character input system 10, information showing the use situations of words in character conversion processing in a learning dictionary 100 or a use frequency table 104 or the like is transmitted. In an update processing system 2, the use situations of the words in the character conversion processing are analyzed by using the information transmitted from the portable terminal 1 so that a field intended by the user of the portable terminal 1 can be estimated from among the respective fields of a field-categorized dictionary group 21 set so as to be categorized for various fields by an estimation processing part 202, and an update dictionary with content indicating that words belonging to the estimated field are increased, and that words belonging to any non-estimated field are decreased is created with a variable dictionary 103 of the portable terminal 1 as a target by an update dictionary creation part 203.
