<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a side air bag device, an occupant protection device, and an occupant protection method which cause a side air bag to alleviate a pressure by a curtain air bag to ensure that the side air bag and the curtain air bag are expanded properly, thereby improve safety against collision. <P>SOLUTION: A side air bag 10 is expanded between a side door 20 and an occupant M in the widthwise direction of a vehicle 5 to protect the occupant M from impact caused by a collision against the side door 20. The side air bag 10 has a communication chamber and a non-expanded portion that expand and contract when pressed by a curtain air bag 42 unexpanding above the side air bag 10 in the vertical direction of the vehicle. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
