摘要 <P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method of lubricating an internal combustion engine by monitoring the performance of the engine and adding an additive package in response thereto. <P>SOLUTION: The invention relates to the method of lubricating the internal combustion engine with a power output of at least 1,600 kw with a lubricating composition. The method includes: (1) a step of monitoring one or more performance characteristics of the engine; (2) a step of selecting the additive package to provide a desired TBN level to the lubricating composition to modify the performance characteristics of the engine; (3) a step of combining the additive package of the step (2) with (a) a component having viscosity of about 2 mm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/s to 12 mm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/s and comprising a light neutral base oil, and optionally (b) a component having viscosity of above 12 mm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/s to about 40 mm<SP POS="POST">2</SP>/s and comprising a heavy neutral base oil or a bright stock; and (4) a step of supplying the composition of the step (3) to the engine. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT
