METHOD FOR PRODUCING L-CYSTEINE

A novel technique that increases the L-cysteine production ability of bacteria was developed, and so provided is a method for producing compounds such as L-cysteine. By culturing in a medium containing thiosulfuric acid a bacteria classified under Enterobacteriaceae, having an amplified expression of a gene involved in sulfite reduction, and having L-cysteine production ability, and then collecting L-cysteine, a related substance, or a mixture thereof that has accumulated in the medium, said compounds are produced.
