The present invention relates to the technical field of financial transaction security. Disclosed are a method and system for verifying a transaction password on a bank self-service terminal; the method comprises: obtaining the card number of a bank card awaiting transaction via the self-service terminal; obtaining the mobile terminal card number bound to the card number of the bank card; sending a verification text message to the mobile terminal registered with the mobile terminal card number; obtaining a reply text message sent from the mobile terminal; obtaining the transaction password contained in the reply text message; and verifying whether the transaction password is correct. By sending the transaction password to a server via a mobile terminal using a text message, operation is convenient; and because the password is sent to the server via a mobile phone, the possibility of illegal interception of the password is avoided, thus improving the security of self-service banking transactions.
