<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a nonaqueous electrolyte halogen battery comprising an ion-conducting medium containing lithium ions and a halogen, and achieving a high operating voltage. <P>SOLUTION: A nonaqueous electrolyte halogen battery 10 comprises a negative electrode 14 made of lithium foil and a positive electrode 16 facing each other via an ion-conducting medium 18. The positive electrode 16 is made by pressing a mixture of a conductive material 16b and a binder 16c against a collector 16a, such as a platinum mesh. The ion-conducting medium 18 is a nonaqueous electrolytic solution containing a halogen as well as a lithium salt, such as lithium hexafluorophosphate.
