Provided are an induction heating device and an induction heating method whereby the entire heated area of a workpiece, even a large workpiece, can be readily and substantially uniformly heated to a predetermined high temperature, and uniform heating is possible even when the workpiece deforms in a nonuniform manner during heating. When heated areas (H1, H2) are established on a workpiece (W) so as to extend in one direction and the heated areas (H1, H2) are induction-heated, the amount of deformation at one side edge of the heated areas (H1, H2) is different from the amount of deformation at the other side edge. This induction heating device comprises heating coils (451) facing a portion of the heated areas (H1, H2) when the workpiece (W) is induction-heated, and a relative movement means for moving the workpiece (W) and the heating coils (451) in a relative manner along a single direction. The heating coils (451) are disposed so as to correspond to the heated areas (H1, H2) during the heating period.
