<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a compressor having a balance weight which stably operates with a simple construction. <P>SOLUTION: The compressor has a casing 11, a motor 21 having a drive shaft 22, a rotor 40, and a stator 50, a compressing mechanism 30, and first and second balance weight 60, 65. The first balance weight 60 acts in a first direction D1 spacing apart from the drive shaft 22. The first balance weight 60 is mounted in the side far away from the compression mechanism 30 relative to the rotor 40 in an axial direction of the drive shaft 22. The second balance weight 65 has a weight body 70 and a housing member 66. The second balance weight 65 acts in a second direction D2 different from the first direction D1. A cavity 67 where the weight body 70 can move in the second direction is formed in the housing member 66.
