<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a low-cost, high-conversion-efficiency, small-sized, lightweight, low-noise, low-electromagnetic-noise room air conditioner. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a room air conditioner comprising: a smooth capacitor configured to smooth a direct-current voltage between direct-current buses; switching means arranged closer to a power supply than the smooth capacitor; a reactor arranged closer to the power supply than the switching means and capable of storing current energy; a backflow prevention diode which is arranged between the smooth capacitor and the switching means, which is configured to prevent backflow from the smooth capacitor to the power supply, and to which a forward voltage and a reverse voltage is applied when the switching means is turned off; control means for turning on and off the switching means; an inverter which is connected in parallel to the smooth capacitor and which is switched in synchronization with a direct-current motor; and a compressor of an outdoor unit of the air conditioner which is a load of a direct-current motor. The backflow prevention diode is formed of a schottky junction diode which uses a wide-gap semiconductor, and semiconductor components other than the backflow prevention diode are formed of silicon semiconductors. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
