<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To suppress the occurrence of defects in a weld metal. <P>SOLUTION: There is provided a welding method having a welding step of achieving the MAG welding of steels 2 butted to each other, wherein the steels 2 are subjected to MAG welding in such a manner that the surface tension estimated value γ of weld metal expressed by expression (1) is ≥1.26, and satisfies expression (2).
