A system and method for generating a multi-dimensional image of an object in a scene. The system includes a spectral estimation module (114) configured to convert a two-dimensional high-resolution light intensity image (112) of the scene to a spectral-augmented image (11 8) of a selected channel. It further includes a high-resolution depth image generation module (124) configured to generate a high-resolution depth image (126) of the object based on a three-dimensional low-resolution depth image (106) of the scene and the spectral-augmented image (118).
