665,333. Jet propulsion plant. AKTIEBOLAGET BOFORS. Sept. 9, 1949 [Sept. 11, 1948], No. 23350/49. Class 110(iii) A compression nozzle forming the inlet of an athodyd or ram jet consisting of an inner gas deflecting body 1 projecting through a jacket 2 and so arranged that the space between the jacket and the body decreases toward the inlet edge of the jacket has an attachment jacket 4 fitted in front of and spaced from the jacket 2. The attachment jacket is so shaped that the air resistance is a minimum and is spaced from the outer part so as to minimise the disturbance to gas flow within the jacket. The diameter of the inlet edge of the jacket 4 should be approximately equal to the diameter of the inlet edge of the jacket 2 and the maximum external diameter is slightly smaller than the maximum external diameter of the jacket 2. Arrangements in which the nozzles are rectangular and not annular are described.
|
