PURPOSE: A digital altitude generating method and an apparatus thereof are provided to increase the accuracy of a digital altitude model and increase the reliability of the same by compensating a topological area. CONSTITUTION: A digital surface model is inputted(S10). Mask data including determining information about a structure area removed from the digital surface model is inputted(S10, S20). The digital surface model is divided into a plurality of segments(S30). The segments are determined as a structure based on the mask data(S40). A digital altitude model is generated based on a determining result(S50).
