PURPOSE: An apparatus and method for measuring calorie consumption using an acceleration sensor are provided to reduce manufacturing costs since there is no need of a special height measuring device. CONSTITUTION: An acceleration sensor extracts a tri-axial gravitational acceleration. An exercise amount detecting unit(1) detects the amount of exercise according to the physical movement of a user by using the tri-axial gravitational acceleration. A calorie consumption calculating unit(2) calculates calorie consumption reflected in height varied by the movement of the user using the detected exercise amount and the weight of the user.
