METHOD OF IMAGING AND DEVELOPING NEGATIVE TYPE ELEMENT

PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a method for imaging and developing negative type imageable elements with developer of low environmental load.

SOLUTION: Negative type imageable elements can be imaged and then developed by using a lower pH organic-based carbon developer that is less toxic and corrosive and that can be more readily disposed after use. The developer has pH less than 12 and comprises: a) an amphoteric surfactant comprising a nitrogen-containing heterocycle; b) an amphoteric surfactant having two or more nitrogen atoms; or c) the amphoteric surfactant of a) and the amphoteric surfactant of b).
