PURPOSE: An extensible file system is provided to support on-disk encoding through utilization of a specific encoding algorithm and key exchange. CONSTITUTION: A directory structure(300) includes a main directory entry(302) and a supplementary directory entry(304). Each directory entry of the main directory entry and the supplementary directory entry is typed. The main directory entry is matched with the entry of a root directory of a file system. The supplementary directory entry is related to the main directory entry. The supplementary directory entry extends metadata related to the main directory entry.
