<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To improve compatibility with standard goods by providing an actuator outside a carrier, to improve reliability by suppressing possibilities such as collision with an obstacle, and to reduce an occupied space. <P>SOLUTION: In this power interrupting apparaus, a first shaft 95 for transmitting power is provided in a differential case 65 rotatably supported by the carrier 81. A supporting portion 101 extends from the end of the first shaft 95, the end protruding from the differential case 65. An interrupting clutch ring 89 is supported on the supporting portion 101, and a flange portion 109 axially opposed to the clutch ring 89 is provided to a second shaft 97 adjacent to the supporting portion 101. A torque interrupting clutch 85 for performing engagement/disengagement by movement of the clutch ring 89 is provided between the clutch ring 89 and the flange portion 109.
