<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To highly accurately control the degree of stratification of air-fuel mixture in engine cylinders to the appropriate degree according to an engine operating state. <P>SOLUTION: The degree of target stratification is set on the basis of an engine operating state. The opening degree of two swirl control valves 35 in each cylinder and the injection condition of two fuel injection valves 21 in each cylinder are individually set on the basis of the degree of target stratification. Concretely, the opening degree of the swirl control valves 35 is set such that the larger the degree of target stratification is, the faster the intake flow velocity in one intake port 31 becomes. It is also set such that the larger the degree of target stratification is, the more the injection quantity of the fuel injection valve 21 on the side where the intake flow velocity in the intake port 31 is fast is reduced to increase the injection quantity of the fuel injection valve 21 on the side where the intake flow velocity is slow. Further, the injection timing of the fuel injection valve 21 on the side where the intake flow velocity in the intake port 31 is fast is set within a period from an exhaust stroke to the early phase of an intake stroke while the injection timing of the fuel injection valve 21 on the side where the intake flow velocity is slow is set to the later phase of the intake stroke. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2013,JPO&INPIT |
