TRACKING BIOLOGICAL AND OTHER SAMPLES USING RFID TAGS

A box mapper (101) has a frame configured to receive a sample box (102) of RFID-tagged sample vials (103, 305) and (ii) a set of antennae (306) configured to read the vial RFID tags of the sample vials (103, 305) to determine the identity and position of each sample vial (103, 305) in the sample box. In one embodiment, the set of antennae include two mutually orthogonal subsets of biphase digit antennae. The box mapper identifies and tracks samples, such as biological samples stored in freezers.
