METHOD FOR REALIZING ACCESS POINT ENERGY SAVING IN WIRELESS COMMUNICATION NETWORKS, AND ACCESS POINT

A method for realizing access point energy saving in wireless communication networks includes: when detecting that no mobile terminal is associated, an access point switches from normal working mode to energy-saving working mode; and in the energy-saving working mode, the access point periodically broadcasts a reduced beacon frame which only contains a service set identification. Also provided is an access point in wireless communication networks. Because the access point broadcasts the reduced beacon frame in the energy-saving mode, the length of the beacon frame is shortened, thus reducing the sending time, and achieving the object of lowering energy consumption.
