The device (1) has an identification frame (3) comprising a base plate that is fixed to a vehicle outer contour (5). An identification plate (6) comprises a plate upper side, where identification symbols (8) are arranged on the plate upper side. An illumination device e.g. LED, illuminates the plate upper side, and the identification plate is designed as a light conductor plate i.e. plastic plate made from polymethyl methacrylate, with light conductor edge sides, where the conductor plate has light scattering nano-dopant particles. The frame and the base plate are made from plastic. An independent claim is also included for a method for manufacturing an identification device.
