<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a clip for a writing utensil and the writing utensil avoiding an increase in rigidity of the clip. <P>SOLUTION: In the writing utensil 1, a notch 24 is formed in a clip body 21 on the back side of a coupling part 22 coupled to a top 5. As a result, the clip body 21, that is, a lower thinned part 21b is formed extremely thinly in a coupling part 22 forming region as compared with a case that the notch 24 is not formed in the clip body 21. As a result, the rigidity is extremely reduced at an attaching side end part of the clip 6. Thus, when the clip 6 is lifted and opened, excessive stress concentration is avoided by the coupling part 22 in the clip 6. Thus, the clip 6 is prevented from being broken.
