A pivotal joint 100 comprises first and second frames Fl, F2 that are pivotable with respect to one another about a first axis AX1 and a second axis AX2. The axes AX1, AX2 are parallel and at a constant distance apart from one another. A first rod R1 is connected to the first frame F1 by a attachment P1 aligned with the first axis AX1, and is connectable to the second frame F2 by another attachment P3 aligned with the second axis AX2. A second rod R2 is connectable to the first frame F1 by a further attachment P4 aligned with the second axis AX2, and connected to the second frame F2 by a further pivot attachment P2 aligned with the first axis AX1. Holes H1, H2 may allow people to pass from one vehicle carriage to another. The joint is compact and is usable for articulated vehicles or an earth moving bucket. It can also be used with a similar arrangement having a perpendicular axis (AX12 see fig 5) and a further frame (F12 see fig 5). |
