Classes 110(iii) and 122(iii) [Also in Group XIII] In a combined power plant and heating system comprising a gas turbine 1, or other heat engine producing exhaust gases, and a steam generator 3 heated by exhaust gases from the gas turbine or other heat engine and supplying steam to drive a steam turbine 4 exhausting to a condenser 5, the cooling water leaving the condenser is further heated in a heat exchanger 8 by the exhaust gases after they have left the steam generator, so that the cooling water can be used for heating purposes in a heat consumer 9, e.g. for room heating. The water may subsequently be returned to the condenser. The system shown has a cold water supply pipe 13, a discharge pipe 14, and valves 10, 11, 12 adjustable so that the cooling water can be made to circulate in a closed or an open circuit through the condenser 5, heat exchanger 8 and heat consumer 9, or in an open circuit through the condenser only. |
