PURPOSE: A desulfurizing agent for hot metal and a method for desulfurizing hot metal using the same are provided to reduce costs for desulfurization of hot metal by making waste produced in a steel making process into effective resources. CONSTITUTION: A desulfurizing agent for hot metal comprises quicklime of 6-10 kg and flux of 8-10 wt% for the quicklime per hot metal of 1 tone. The flux is mold slag which is inserted in a mold for a continuous casting process and thrown away after the mold process. A method for desulfurizing hot metal using the desulfurizing agent comprises the steps of: loading hot metal in a ladle for desulfurization(S10), inserting the desulfurizing agent composef of quicklime and mold slag into the desulfurization ladle(S20), stirring the hot metal(S30), and removing slag produced by the insertion of the desulfurizing agent(S40).
