The invention comprises a mirror system for a motor vehicle where a viewing mirror visible to the vehicle driver and associated with at least one image mirror presents a composite image (figure 2) of different image parts to the driver, each image part being different and defined by an individual optical path to the driver. The viewing mirror and image mirror may be combined, with the mirror having different areas showing different images from around the vehicle (figure 1). Alternatively the system may comprise various image mirrors 41 spaced around the vehicle, each presenting a different image which is reflected to different areas on the viewing mirror 31. The driver may thus see various images from around the vehicle on the one mirror. The viewing mirror may be an integral component of the vehicle wing, A-pillar or door. The mirror system may comprise integral indicator lights, a folding mechanism and a tiltable mounting. The mirror(s) may also have an anti-glare coating, be self-cleaning and have a sensor that can detect the speed of vehicles relative to the mirror. |
