A self-expandable three-dimensional thin film device and method of fabrication for use in the medical field as implantable endoluminal applications and further for three-dimension thin film shapes which can be expanded and collapsed in radial directions. The device layer has a pattern comprising a plurality of struts which are connected at their ends and separated by openings that are shaped to enable the struts to bend at their ends sufficient to expand the layer.
