摘要 FIELD: information technology. ^ SUBSTANCE: collisions in a wireless network are detected and resolved by using transmission through access points in a network. For example, each access point can select a resource from a set of resources and transmit a unique identifier instruction (e.g., a long identifier) of that access point on the selected resource. Alternatively, each access point can select a bit and add that bit to a reused identifier (e.g., a short identifier) of that access point in order to provide a channelling parameter which is used to channel signals transmitted through the access point. Selection through that access point can be based on the unique identifier assigned to that access point. Selection through the access point can be a pseudorandom selection (e.g., based on the corresponding unique identifier). Another node (e.g., an access terminal) in the network can identify collision based on transmission through the access point. In that case, the node can transmit a collision instruction in order to compel one of the access points to stop transmitting. The node can then inform one colliding access point on the presence and identity of another colliding access point to allow the access point to resolve the collision. ^ EFFECT: avoiding collisions in a wireless network. ^ 67 cl, 13 dwg
