PURPOSE: An auto-filter of a clothing dryer and an operating method thereof are provided to improve drying efficiency by accurately controlling a position of a arm cleaning the filter and preventing an air flow channel from being blocked by the arm. CONSTITUTION: A rotational direction of an arm is changed by a stopper and the arm reciprocates to remove foreign substances(S100). An overcurrent generated in a driving motor is detected through a current sensor of the driving motor when the rotational direction is changed as the arm interferes in the stopper. When the number of times detecting the overcurrent reaches a predetermined number of times, the operation of the driving motor is stopped(S200).
