<P>PROBLEM TO BE SOLVED: To provide a terahertz wave modulation apparatus which directly modulates a terahertz wave by a light signal, and also to provide a signal transmission apparatus and a signal transmission method using the terahertz wave modulation apparatus. <P>SOLUTION: The terahertz wave modulation apparatus has: terahertz wave sources (2, 21, 311) which output subterahertz waves or terahertz waves; signal light sources (3, 22, 312) which output signal lights whose light intensity can be changed; and terahertz wave modulation elements (4, 14, 23, 313) which are arranged to receive the subterahertz waves or the terahertz waves output from the terahertz wave sources, and are arranged to be radiated by the signal light output from the terahertz wave sources. The terahertz wave modulation elements (4, 14, 23, 313) perform modulation so that, as the radiation strength of the signal lights output from the signal light sources (3, 22, 312) becomes larger, the amplitudes of the subterahertz waves or terahertz waves output from the terahertz wave sources (2, 21, 311) become smaller. <P>COPYRIGHT: (C)2010,JPO&INPIT |
