<p>The invention relates to a method for processing an image (1) to be printed, wherein a processing unit (10) divides (E1) the image into at least one geometrical area (?k) arranging at least one pixel (Pi, j) from the image (1), searches (E2) through the pixels (Pi,,j) from the image (1), and measures (E'2) at least one color strength (lc, i, j) corresponding to each searched pixel (Pi, j). Said method is characterized in that the method includes the processing steps according to which, for each searched pixel (Pi, j), the processing unit (10): compares (E3) the measured color strength (lc, i, j) with at least one threshold (spc, ?k(Pi, j)), each threshold (spc, ?k(Pi, j)) having a different value for each pixel (Pi, j) belonging to a single geometric area (?k) of the image (1); attributes (E4), on the basis of said comparison (E3), a modified color strength (lc, i, j) to said pixel (Pi, j); determines (E5) an error (ec, i, j) corresponding to the difference between the measured color strength (lc, i, j) and the modified color strength (lc, i, j); and adds (E6) a fraction of said error (ec, i, j) to the color strength (lc, i, j) of at least one pixel that is adjacent to the searched pixel (Pi, j).
