PURPOSE: A composition and a cosmetic composition containing Nardostachyos Rhizoma extract are provided to suppress kidney cancer cell growth and to prevent and treat kidney cancer. CONSTITUTION: A composition for preventing and treating kidney cancer contains Nardostachyos Rhizoma ethanol extract as an active ingredient. The ethanol extract is prepared at 50 Deg. C. for 24 hours and decompressing at 45 Deg. C. The composition also contains pharmaceutically acceptable carrier or diluents. The kidney cancer is kidney cell cancer. A cosmetic composition for preventing kidney cancer contains 50°C ethanol extract containing cosmetologically acceptable additive as an active ingredient.
