The floating level gauge has an electroconductive acoustic line, a processing unit, a float mounted on the acoustic line and capable of moving along said acoustic line, and a conducting element. The level gauge also has an alternating current generator, an acoustic transducer connected to the top end of the acoustic line, a discriminator-former, an intermediate transformer, and the float has an electric pulse generator, a rectifier, a toroidal transformer and an exciting coil lying concentrically with the opening of the float, said exciting coil being connected to the electric pulse generator. ^ EFFECT: high reliability and accuracy of measurement owing to localisation of magnetic flux energy on the level of the position of the float on the surface of the liquid. ^ 5 cl, 3 dwg
