PURPOSE: An electronic device for transmitting/receiving data through a mobile high definition link interface and a method thereof are provided to differently use a CBUS line according to external device types connected to the electronic device. CONSTITUTION: A switching unit(150) receives data through a CBUS line of a mobile high definition link interface. A controlling unit(120) transforms external input data of a serial communication format into a format corresponding to an input means of an electronic device. The controlling unit generates virtual CBUS data corresponding to an external device(300). A mobile high definition link transmitting/receiving unit(140) transmits and receives the external device and audio/video data through a data line of the mobile high definition interface.
