PURPOSE: A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery is provided to improve cycle life time properties and to solve a volume expansion problem. CONSTITUTION: A negative electrode for a lithium secondary battery comprises: a negative electrode active material layer comprising a Si-based negative electrode active material layer and a polymer binder comprising a repeating unit represented by chemical formula 1 or chemical formula 2; and a current collector supporting the negative electrode active material layer. In chemical formula 1 and 2, R^1 and R^2 are the same or different from each other and are either OH or OOH. The Si-based negative electrode active material is a composite of Si and C. A content of the binder is 1-10 weight% based on a total weight of the negative electrode active material layer.
