PURPOSE: An electronic control fuel injector for a large diesel engine is provided to increase the efficiency of an engine by decreasing a demand for auxiliary output. CONSTITUTION: An electronic control fuel injector for a large diesel engine comprises a body(22), a needle(30), a control chamber(44), a discharge line(50), and a restrictor(48). Hydraulic pressure applied to the control chamber generates second hydraulic pressure which pressurizes the needle. An electronic control valve(54) selectively opens and closes the hydraulic connection between the control chamber and a lower pressure chamber The restrictor comprises a variable choke location.
