<p>PURPOSE: A touch malfunction preventing method of a portable terminal and an apparatus thereof are provided to prevent touch malfunction according to accessory insertion and to prevent touch malfunction by contact of hands and a touch area. CONSTITUTION: If the connection of an external device is not detected, a controller performs a corresponding function. If the connection of the external device is detected, the controller readjusts a reference value for touch recognition(401,405). If the connection of the external device is not released, the controller maintains a current state(407).
