PURPOSE: An impulse generator having high efficiency is provided to improve distance resolution using an impulse signal having a narrow pulse length. CONSTITUTION: A drive pulse generating part(100) generates a drive pulse from an input signal. A monopolar impulse generation part(200) generates a monopolar impulse signal by combining a discharge signal and a reflection discharge signal which are discharged from a step recovery diode. An impulse standardization part(300) standardizes the monopolar impulse signal to an impulse signal. The input signal has one of signals including a rectangular wave, a triangle wave, and a sine wave. The drive pulse generating part comprises an input module receiving the input signal, a drive pulse switching module, an input conversion module, and a pulse width control module.
