The method involves allowing a server (SC) to determine a geographical area that is associated with a communicating device (DC, DCA) e.g. smart phone. A presence of a communicating device recorder (DCE) is detected if any registration is considered as forbidden. The communicating device recorder comprises a recording medium e.g. sound recorder, that is activated in the geographical area. A message indicating that the recorder comprising recording medium is present in the geographical area is transmitted to the communicating device. Independent claims are also included for the following: (1) a server (2) a computer program comprising instructions for performing a method for controlling recordings of communicating devices.
