The device has a focusing lens (5) for focusing an excitation laser beam (6) on an end (11) of a tip (1) of a scanning probe microscope. An opto-mechanical coupling device includes a window (8) arranged on an axis of the laser beam between the focusing lens and the tip end of the microscope, and a cover (7) mechanically connecting the window to the focusing lens, where a seal or adhesive is placed between the window and the cover. The seal/adhesive, the window, and the cover are sealed with respect to immersion liquid (3) in an immersion cell (2). An independent claim is also included for a method for coupling a Raman spectrometer with a scanning probe microscope and an immersion cell.
