PURPOSE: A password generation method and a password retrieval method based on a symmetric key and a system thereof are provided to increase storage efficiency by minimizing the size of an index. CONSTITUTION: A password generation method and a password retrieval method comprise a user terminal(10), a server(20), an agent(40) which is a password generation means, and a database(50). The user terminal includes an inner storage medium including a hard disk for storing a document. The server is connected to a user terminal through a network(30). The server confirms matching of each document in an index by a corresponding trapdoor while determining whether or not the document can be taken out from the server.
